The Root River State Water Trail offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing while representing the timeless scenic and historic qualities characteristic of southeastern Minnesota. The Root River is a migratory path or home for over 300 species of birds. Bait is available from local convenience stores. River rentals are available in Peterson.
